Depression Treatment

If you feel like life is crumbling down on you, that both big and small tasks are equally and almost unbearably difficult; if you feel like “yea, I can do this… I can do that… but what’s the point…,” you are most likely depressed. You may have some variation of the symptoms, and the severity of them may differ, because there are no two individuals whose depression looks and feels the same.

Understanding Your Depressive Episodes

If you get significantly depressed periodically, you probably have heard the “snap out of it” advice too many times by now.

Advice you can recognize as well-meaning but oh-so-hurtful nevertheless, because you can’t do it and because depression brings very real pain.
When working with you during your depressive episode, I will concentrate on immediate issues of your life, because they may lead to significant stress levels if not taken care of.

Depression Testing?

While there isn’t a standard depression test, there are screening instruments that professionals use to understand what kind of anxiety someone may be experiencing. In addition, there will be an in-depth clinical interview to help us understand the nuances of origin of your particular depression symptoms and how to best help you deal with them.

We will also work on understanding the possible causes of your current state and events that preceded it. That is where the prevention work will start, so you don’t have to go back to the same miserable cycle of getting depressed, struggling out of it, and trying to get your life back on track only to once again, revert back to depression. Prevention work will allow you to control the trajectory of your development as an adult.

What Is Depression Testing?

Depression testing uses validated questionnaires and clinical interviews to measure mood, sleep, energy, appetite, and concentration to assess severity and inform treatment planning.

Is Depression Testing Accurate Online?

Yes, tools like the PHQ-9 and Beck Depression Inventory are validated for online use. When paired with a clinical interview, they provide reliable screening and compare well to in-person assessments.

What Conditions Can Depression Testing Detect?

Primary focus is depression, but testing also uncovers co-occurring anxiety, PTSD, grief, or sleep disorders that can affect treatment decisions.

How Long Does the Testing Take?

Initial questionnaires take about 5 to 10 minutes. A full clinical interview typically requires one 45‑60 minute session.

Who Interprets the Results?

You’ll receive a personalized report with results, treatment strategies such as therapy or medication, and referrals or resources to support your ongoing mental health.
