Anxiety Disorder Services

Sometimes anxiety is a stand-alone condition, but often it is co-morbid with depression (what horrific terms we professionals manage to coin at times; why not to say “dances along with” or “sandwiches together with”). And really, how can you not feel depressed if worrying about matters big and small keeps you up at night and spoils your intimate moments?

Inside The Anxious Mind

It is not so much your work, but your worries that exhaust you by the end of the day. They keep you from being productive and enjoying your life, or what is left of it, because if you really think about all the ways you can go at any moment, it is a wonder that you are still alive.

You have noticed that people sometimes tend to shy away from you because anxiety tends to spread, so you try your best not to appear anxious. However, you still cannot control your train of thoughts, so you still feel on edge all the time.

When working with you, I will ask you to lead me into the nitty-gritty details of your mode of thinking or feeling; how you get from point A (waking up) to point B (being worried sick about this or that).

Anxiety Disorder Test?

While there isn’t a standard anxiety disorder test, there are screening instruments that professionals use to understand what kind of anxiety someone may be experiencing. In addition, there will be an in-depth clinical interview to help us understand the nuances of origin of your particular anxiety symptoms and how to best help you deal with them.

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD): Excessive and uncontrollable worry about various aspects of life, often accompanied by restlessness, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.
  • Panic Disorder: Sudden and intense episodes of fear, often with physical symptoms like heart palpitations, sweating, and shortness of breath.
  • Social Anxiety Disorder: A deep fear of social situations, leading to avoidance of gatherings and difficulty in forming relationships.
  • Phobias: Intense fear of specific objects, situations, or activities that provoke extreme anxiety.
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): Repetitive thoughts and behaviors that an individual feels compelled to perform to alleviate distress.
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Persistent anxiety and flashbacks following a traumatic event, often leading to emotional numbness and hypervigilance.

If you’re experiencing symptoms like excessive worry, restlessness, fatigue, irritability, or difficulty concentrating, it’s time to seek professional help. Anxiety can impact physical health as well, contributing to high blood pressure, digestive issues, and weakened immune function.

Support Through Every Step

As with depression, you may be encouraged to seek psychiatric consultation to understand what psychopharmacological options are available, but the ultimate decision about medication will NOT be made for you.

You will not feel alone on those rocky landscapes of your emotional states. Together, we will figure out at what stage in your life your ability to foresee what may be coming at you was life-saving, and when the same ability became constraining. In due course, you will learn how to control your tendency to feel responsible for everything and everybody around you.

What Is an Anxiety Disorder Test?

An anxiety disorder test is a screening tool, like GAD-7 or Zung, that measures symptoms such as worry, restlessness, and physical tension to assess anxiety severity and whether a full clinical evaluation is needed.

Are Online Anxiety Tests Reliable?

Yes, validated tools like the GAD-7 have high accuracy and reliability. The GAD-7 shows about 89% sensitivity and 82% specificity for generalized anxiety, making it useful for initial screening.

What Diagnoses Can the Test Support?

Screening tools can indicate generalized anxiety disorder, panic attacks, social anxiety, or PTSD. Further evaluation follows to confirm diagnoses based on DSM-5 criteria and comprehensive clinical interviews.

What Happens After the Screening?

You’ll receive a personalized report with your scores, interpretation, coping strategies, and recommended next steps. These may include therapy, medication referrals, or lifestyle adjustments for symptom management.

How Long Does Testing Take?

Screening takes about 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the tool. Follow-up clinical assessments typically require one or two sessions.

Who Reviews My Results?

A licensed therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist will interpret your scores and observations, ensuring an accurate diagnosis and developing tailored treatment plans.
