Marina Shikhman, Ph.D.
2003 MA in Neuropsychology, City University of New York
2007 PhD in Neuropsychology, City University of New York
My interest in psychology started in high school, and I pursued this interest up to a doctoral degree at the City University of New York. Through my education, I sought out diversity of experiences, working with variety of clients, ranging in age, background, and clinical presentation.
My interests included both psychiatric and neurological disorders, and I worked with youths with ADHD at Mt Sinai hospital, patients with various neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy and dementia at LIJ and Cornell Hospital, patients with cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, and patients with schizophrenia at New York State Psychiatric Institute. My interest in psychotherapy has led me to seek supervision and training in evidence-based modes of therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. I work best with clients going through transition or seeking to change their circumstances and move forward with their lives. I primarily work with adults, ranging from young adults to seniors. I started my practice, Metropolitan Neuropsychological Consulting PC, in 2010 in Fort Lee, NJ. I specialize in neuropsychological, psychoeducational and psychological assessment, as well as individual psychotherapy. Given my fluency in Russian language, I am able to provide therapy and neuropsychological assessment in Russian to bilingual clients.
